Gary ParkesThe client intended this site to be a complete catalogue of all artists on his books. Consequently, intuitive navigation was of major consideration. This was achieved by locating the main category list across the top of the page (this is always visible, no matter where you are in the site) and then the requested sub-categories of individual acts are displayed on the left. Clicking links on this list then displays details of the acts in the main body of the page. The site needed to convey a 'showbizzy' yet sophisticated identity and this was achieved by using the motif of a polished, grand piano and limiting the colours of the site to black, white and red. The site also features a company profile, testimonials, client list and press articles. The site expands/contracts to fit the most common screen sizes. |
Elaine DelmarThe world-renowned 'International Lady Of Song', singer and actress Elaine Delmar needed a website that was basically a chronicle and portfolio of her career up to the present day. The look of the site was developed with close consultation with Elaine and this slightly 'Blue Note Records' appearance was decided upon. Featuring sound clips from her currently available CDs and rare archive photographs, the site became a repository of facts and images that could also function as an online press release. CD ordering facilities were also incorporated in the site as well as a pop-up window announcing Elaine's upcoming events. |
Brian Bennett Music LtdBrian Bennett, multi-award-winning TV/film composer and drummer with the Shadows, requested his site to be an on-line advertisement for his composing talents; a 'newsletter' featuring the latest writing/performing projects with which he is involved; a retail outlet for his recordings, and a complete-as-possible catalogue of the achievements of his long career. The latter included extremely rare photographs of him performing with rock 'n' roll legends such as Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochrane, as well as The Shadows and other stars of the early pop years of this country. Due to the all-encompassing nature of this site, frames were used so that a continually visible navigation bar is featured on the left. The motif of stave-inscribed parchment was used throughout the site to convey the atmosphere of a serious composer rather than a pop drummer of yesteryear. Mp3 files were included as downloadable sound samples of the Brian's recordings (Although not the fastest to download, I find mp3s to be the most compatible and reliable format for sound for most operating systems). The large number of images included on a single page does necessitate in a slow download time, but this was felt to be acceptable due to most contacts in the industry having fast ADSL/Broadband connections. |
Daniel SmithA comprehensive body of information needed to be accommodated on this site due to the client's extensive career. Recordings, concert appearances, press articles, reviews, biography and video order forms were required as well as a Latest News page that would be updated frequently. The client is both a classical and jazz bassoonist so the appearance of the site needed to not alienate the fanbase of either music. Autumnal colours were used as a solution to this issue. Mp3 files were included as downloadable sound samples of Daniel's recordings. |
